Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion A Rift in Time introduces players to Eternity Isle, where numerous story quests await exploration. Among these storylines, The Wanderer of the Dunes stands out as a key quest for progressing through the Glittering Dunes and building a relationship with Gaston. Completing this objective requires gathering local resources, investigating abandoned camps, and utilizing your Royal Hourglass tool efficiently.
Finding Gaston and Gathering Initial Resources
To begin the quest, travel to the Glittering Dunes region on Eternity Isle to locate Gaston standing near the sand waterfall. After speaking with him, he asks for specific items found around the desert environment. You will need to gather three Agave plants, four Dates from trees, and fish up a Scorpion from the sand ripples.
Agave grows abundantly across The Plains and can be harvested directly from the ground. Dates can be harvested from the palm-like trees scattered around the same area. To catch the Scorpion, cast your fishing rod into the orange ripples in the sand waterfall near Gaston.
Investigating the Encampment for Clues
Once you return the items to Gaston, he prompts you to search his nearby camp for clues about the vault key. Look around the tent area to locate three distinct items hidden among his belongings. These items reveal vital details about his recent activities and next location.
The first clue is a paint palette resting on crates to the left of the tent. You can find cracked coconuts near the cooking area on the right side as the second clue. Finally, inspect the chest located on the right side of the wooden tent structure to find the last clue.
Unlocking The Wastes and Recovering LeFou
After examining all three clues, talk to Gaston to learn that you must reach his shipwreck in The Wastes. Unlocking access to The Wastes requires spending 4,000 Mist at the blocked pathway. Once inside the new area, meet Gaston near the massive shipwreck to proceed with the mission.
Gaston directs you to search the quicksand directly behind him for a missing piece of the key. Cast your fishing line into the quicksand to pull out LeFou, the coconut mannequin. Deliver LeFou back to Gaston to trigger the next phase of your search.
Locating the Scarab Piece and Finishing the Quest
Your final task involves tracking down the Desert Scarab Piece hidden somewhere in The Plains. Equip your Royal Hourglass tool and use its direction indicator to guide you toward the buried treasure. Follow the signals closely until the white ring turns orange, allowing you to extract the piece from the sand.
Take the newly uncovered Scarab piece to a nearby Hologram Station to speak with Jafar. Afterwards, return to Gaston at his encampment to report your findings. Talking to Gaston wraps up the quest and prepares him for the next chapter in his Eternity Isle storyline.
